SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT NO.5 – EVA HORNER

Complementing the author spotlights I ran from 2011 to 2016, today’s Saturday Spotlight, the fifth, is of Eva Horner. If you would like to take part in a spotlight, take a look at Saturday spotlights.

Eva Horner is a retired pharmacist originally from Austria, now living as an adventuress and writer on Koh Phangan island, Thailand.

And now from the author herself:

Every woman is born with an imaginary flower crown which reflects her heart, her wisdom, her love, her character. As life goes on women, especially, get hurt, neglected or ignored and the crown gets shifted. Many break, get depressed or even commit suicide.

I want to remind readers that every woman is a queen. That they deserve love, respect for themselves and from others. That after a short grieving period they should get up again, adjust the crown, ready to love again.

In 43 short, funny, sometimes naughty stories I tell the people not to take everything so seriously, and enjoy every (love) moment in their lives. Give and receive the feeling of love with a big spoon. Never give up on believing in love.

The stories expand from East Africa, describing the beauty of the landscape, the mentality of the different tribes there, how people live in remote areas together with a few white ones, and goes on to love affairs in European countries like Austria and Italy. The different approach to women there, especially on dating apps.

The stories end with my great love, Koh Phangan in Thailand, as a love letter to the people and the overwhelming landscape on this tiny island, famous for the extraordinary full moon parties with thousands of people from all over world, and the many many spiritual people on their way to finding enlightenment in yoga retreats, meditation centers, vegan restaurants or tantra sessions. A kind of revival of the hippie time in the sixties.

A big adventure for all the searchers and a good business, also, for the Thai people. Sanuk, the word for fun, is written in big letters all over the island; sanuk also means love.
