TBA Margaret Iggulden
Margaret Iggulden now lives by the Wye Valley in her home country of Monmouthshire.
After college in Southampton and teaching In London, she arrived on a tropical island off the coast of Papua New Guinea to teach English. As the student teachers loved drama, A Midsummer Night's Dream was produced. Pure magic! Bottom as a crocodile!
The next adventure, after studying Linguistics at Lancaster University, was Kenya, again at a teachers' college, Kaimosi, halfway between Lake Victoria and Eldoret, where the marathon runners train, was a wonderful place, lush and beautiful. Her love of the country with its stunning wildlife stemmed from there. Besides elephants and giraffes, warthogs are her total favourites!
Throughout this time Margaret also wrote many English language course books and readers. Sam on Radio 321 for eight to ten-year-olds was her first ELT book, written in a team of authors. Sam began as a giant and became a DJ!
Teaching at the University of Kuwait followed with travels in Egypt and Jordan, visiting the ancient sites: pyramids and temples Entering the KIng's tomb at Giza was scary stuff! All scribbled down - ideal experiences for lots of stories!
After returning to the UK, Margaret taught overseas students at Oxford University and eventually felt the call of home. Walking the woods in the Wye Valley, paths in the Forest of Dean and visiting abbeys, castles and burial sites, she began to imagine a series of stories, time travelling tales, set amongst the beautiful rolling hills.
'Spirals of Time', a quest to save the planet, was born here.
'The Bronze Mirror' is the first in this historical series.
